why using the lamps for portraits30 Jun, 2017 1000 Days Content Challenge Subscribe
It is always good to look at the brighter side of life. No wonder why using the lamps for portraits is a nice idea. Every time when you are shooting an event in a hotel, it is wise to look out for the lamps there. Now that’s a wise way to spend the waiting time. Often these lamps are so artistic that they make for great composition elements. It is that spontaneous snap of the second when you get to place the subject and imagine a moment. A continuous video light can be used to light the subject too for the light spread has to be maintained smartly. This way both the lamps and the subjects are lit appropriately. This comes real handy when you are looking to do something different in a space that you have shot often or that which is cluttered.
So the next time you spot a lamp (or a series of lamps), take a moment to imagine the subject by its side and ask yourself, “What story can I possibly tell in this frame creatively?” Dreams, memories, anxiety, destination, love, hope, magic… it is amazing to see the variety of emotions that can be pulled out in these shots. Take a look at some of my favourite lamp side pictures.
